Ferdian Purnamasidi
Managing Director
Appointed as Managing Director in May 2018, Ferdian has been a Director of MACH Energy Australia Pty Ltd since it was founded in September 2015. He represents Droxford International Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of the Salim Group and the major shareholder of MACH Energy Australia. Ferdian is responsible for managing the Salim Group’s investment portfolio across Australia and is a Non-Executive Director at KGL Resources Ltd, an Australian mineral exploration company with a copper project in the Northern Territory. He received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 2002 from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia.
The Salim Group is a diversified multinational business group which owns interests in mining, food products, agribusiness, retail, distribution, telecommunication, automobile, property development, hotels & resorts, financial & insurance services, chemical & manufacturing and other strategic investments.
Allen Wang
Non-Executive Director
Sitting on the Board as a Non-Executive Director, Allen has been Chief Executive Officer of TIH Investment Management Ltd. since June 2014.
Allen’s previous experience includes management positions at Argyle Street Management Limited and Credit Asia Capital, as well as being responsible for deal origination, structuring and the execution of special situations investments in Southeast Asia and China.
Allen received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Canada and holds a Master of Arts in Statistics from the Columbia University in New York. Allen is also a CFA Charterholder.
Kin Chan
Non-Executive Director
Kin is a Non-Executive Director of MACH Australia Holdings and MACH Energy Australia.
Graduating from Princeton University with MBA qualifications gained from the Wharton School where he was a Palmer Scholar, Ford Motor Company Fellow, Rotary Scholar and awarded the Seevak Real Estate Competition, Kin possesses extensive experience in business and banking and serves as a director of numerous listed companies around the world. Kin is currently Managing Director of Argyle Street Management Limited, he has also served as Chief Executive and Managing Director of Lazard Asia Limited, Associate, Vice President and Executive Director of Goldman, Sachs & Co and Financial Analyst, M&A Department in New York for the First Boston Corporation.

- 35+ years experience in the International coal industry in technical and general management roles
- Previously worked for 22 years with Rio Tinto, 7 years at Kaltim Prima Coal Indonesia, Global Coal Commodity Specialist with BHP Billiton
- Bachelor of Science (Geology), Fellow of AusIMM, GAICD.
Michael Redman
General Manager – Operations
- 30+ years heavy manufacturing and mining experience
- Extensive experience in the Hunter Valley Coalfields working with Rio Tinto Coal Australia, Xstrata Coal NSW and Thiess
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) – University of New South Wales
- Master of Applied Finance – University of Newcastle
Chris Thoroughgood
General Manager - Marketing
- 20+ years of coal marketing experience and business development most recently as Executive Director at Noble Resources International Australia
- Lead marketing executive in two greenfield mine projects and overseas Joint Venture for coal procurement
- Bachelor of Science – Environmental Chemistry and Physical Geography University of Newcastle
Jason Culpeper
Chief Financial Officer
- 25+ years experience in mining and professional services predominantly in the coal sector
- Chartered Accountant (MBA accredited)
- Lead commercial executive on four green field coal projects and senior management roles with BHP Coal, BHP Marketing and Rio Tinto Coal
Michael Howard
General Counsel and Company Secretary
- 20+ years experience as a legal practitioner specialising in energy and resources
- Top-tier legal firm training (Clayton Utz) followed by over 15 years as an inhouse lawyer, entirely with energy companies and the majority in hard-rock mining, including several listed companies
- Masters in Law, Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) as well as post-graduate qualifications in project management
Alan Wigan
Commercial Advisor
- Chartered Accountant with over 25 years experience in mining and professional services
- Previously CFO at Sedgman where he managed the IPO and was responsible for finance, commercial, legal, IT, and investor relations’ functions.
- Also previously held senior finance roles at Boardwalk Resources and Whitehaven Coal and prior to that worked with KPMG, BHP Coal and Linklaters in London

- 15+ years experience in manufacturing and mining including coal and hard-rock
- Extensive generalist Human Resources experience
- Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management)
